What are the habits of peregrine falcons? (Click here for info)
The peregrine falcon is a powerful bird of prey found on every continent except Antarctica, famously recognized as the fastest animal on Earth with diving speeds exceeding 320 km/h (200 mph). They primarily hunt other birds mid-air and have adapted remarkably well to urban environments, using skyscrapers as artificial cliffs for nesting after a historic recovery from near-extinction in the late 20th century. They mate for life, and while the mother sits on the eggs, the father hunts. He brings prey back to the nest to feed her so she rarely has to leave. However, the father will also take short turns sitting on the eggs so the mother can stretch her wings, preen, and eat.
